A hike around Stanhope Common / Moor / Fell and Ashes quarry - Breakfast at the Railway Station Cafe

Its been a while since we have done this hiking route so we headed over to Weardale this morning and parked up at the Dales Centre and headed off on our 6 mile hike. The weather was very overcast and very windy. I was over dressed and Jane was under dressed. It is always lovely and quite and only seen two others out at the quarry / common. The ground was still dry but not too overgrown on the singletracks which was surprising. On the way back into Stanhope the heavens opened and we got a good soaking so we made a quick dash down to the railway station which has reopened including the café. We sat inside and ordered some food and drinks. My bacon and sausage butty was one the best I have had in very long time for £3. After 5 minutes the sun came out, typical but by the time we got finished it had clouded over again and started spitting rain. Once at the ford it was that low Jane walked over the old road part and I took the stepping stones. We got changed into some dry clothing back at the car then had a walk down the town for some shopping and the craft market was on in the hall.
Below are some photos from the hike, all in 6 miles on the nose with 650ft of climbing. Enjoy and hopefully more soon-

We also filled up on some cheaper unleaded on the way home
