A few days away to Whitby / Scarborough

Me and Jane headed off for a couple of nights away on Friday so we hit the A19 then across to Guisborough for a look around Bike Scene then down to Whitby. It was lashing down with rain for most of the way but by the time we got to Whitby it had dried up but still a biting cold wind. We had a walk around the town, did some shopping, some banking, some sight seeing then went to Trenchers for sitty in fish n chips. Its the first time we have been and heard it was excellent so was looking forward to it. The fish chips came after a longish wait and they were ok but the food was only lukewarm! oh well backs to Quayside or Magpie again next time.
Then is was down to Scarborough. Both me and Jane have not been before so we did know what to expect. We were stopping at the Travelodge which has some very poor reviews. I can understand why. The building needs £2-3mill chucking at it and then I don't think it would touch it! I had very little sleep both nights with seagulls nesting on the flat roof above our bedroom, gale force winds, lashing rain and something banging all night with the wind outside our window, doors banging all night, people shouting / talking loudly in the corridors. There is one thing for sure we are defo fitter after talking seven staircases to get to our room!
We had a good walk around the town centre, down the cliff  and along the south bay and back. All in we were out over 14 hours walking over two days. Car parking is also a nightmare and mega expensive.
On a plus note I did take my bike down and after the storms through the night / early morning it dried up and the sun even came out this morning so I cycled the Cinder Track from Sainsburys carpark to Whitby, more on this on the next blog.
Well we have been and seen and ticked it off the list but we will not be rushing back for a long time.
