Muddy Brown's Blog: Fresh Goods Sunday - Sidi Scrape Shot Bright Yellow Road Shoes

If you have followed my blogs over the years you will have worked out that I only wear Sidi cycling shoes in both mtb and road versions. I have been using them now for nearly 30 years and as the saying goes “you pay for what you get”. I have never had a pair go wrong in anyway shape or form. Yes I have replaced the sole inserts on a couple of my mtb shoes but that is what the inserts are designed to do, wear and provide grip. Anyway onto these road Shot models. I bough the mtb version over a year ago and they have performed very well so when these popped up on CDNE bike sales I snapped them up. They are the same as the MTB version but with a different sole but they the cut must be slightly different as they are a tighter fit on my foot compared to the mtb version. They are not too tight and I like a tighter fit on a road shoe as I normally wear thinner socks. In use they are very stiff and I cannot feel any flex in the sole. They are also very comfortable, if fact they are more comfortable than my last pair of road Sidi's not sure if has got anything to do with the different buckle system but the central two ratchet dials on the Shot are very easy to tighten ./ loosen and adjust. One thing I did notice by accident one night that after leaving them out in the daylight during the day they glow through the night!
RRP £349 and I paid £75 (second hand) if you shop around you can now get them for around £209 onwards new, depending upon colours and size.

DOUBLE TECNO-3 PUSH

The DOUBLE TECNO 3 PUSH SYSTEM is inserted on a single base, this speeds up wearing and taking off shoes. The central mechanism creates a perfect tension balance between the shoe's internal and external side. The symmetrical mechanism guarantees an excellent closure adapting on every instep. An innovative button added to the monofilament buckle, if pushed, lifts the buckle to facilitate the adjustment.

REFLEX ADJUSTABLE HEEL RETENTION DEVICE

The ADJUSTABLE HEEL RETENTION DEVICE reinforces the top of the heel cup and improves the fit by closing the back of the shoe securely around the rider's heel. The heel retention device tightens the top of the heel cup so that the heel doesn't slide out during steep climbs or sprints. Each side of the heel can be adjusted independently, for a perfect fit. For a custom, adjustment turn the screw towards the + sign to tighten the heel retention device and towards the ‚Äì sign to open it. Lightweight, easy to use, and replaceable. For additional security, while pedalling, the new adjustable heel device is provided with reflex inserts for more visibility in dark conditions.

SIDI HEEL CUP

The reinforced cup that stabilises and supports the heel. Anatomically shaped plastic reduces heel slip and provides increased power transfer. Provides additional foot protection in the event of a crash.

VENT CARBON SOLE

The VENT CARBON Sole features a light and replaceable heel pad in polyurethane to improve walkability and a replaceable integrated toe pad/vent cover. The key benefits of the VENT CARBON Sole are not only superior power transfer, because of its light weight and stiffness, but also warm weather comfort. The VENT CARBON Sole is designed with an integrated vent and air channels for heat dissipation and air flow. The vent can be opened or closed for 4-season comfort. The VENT CARBON Sole is handmade exclusively of carbon fibre in a weave pattern oriented at opposing angles that maximise stiffness while allowing for a small degree of controlled flex in the toe area. This carefully designed flex biomechanically relieves stress on the plantar tendon and helps promote circulation. The VENT CARBON Sole features a standard 3-hole drilling pattern, printed 10 mm lateral and fore/aft cleat alignment scale as well as the Look Memory Eyelet for easy cleat alignment and replacement.
