Kielder Vintage & Classic car show / update on the trails

Last Sunday we all had a spin up to Kielder for the Vintage and Classic car show. It has been a good few years since I have been to Kielder and nothing has changed, if anything it is worse. It is always like a trip back in time. The Castle, tearoom and visitor centre is closed. The play park at the side of the castle has gone. The pub has been taken over again and by all accounts the food is awful. The shop in the village has closed. The salmon centre has closed. The cafe and visitors centre at Tower Knowe has closed. On the plus side Ian still has The Bike Place shop open at the castle and a small unit from Leaplish. The maze is still open down from the castle. On the down side most of the trails are still completely closed or big diversions. If you like climbing Deadwater is the only route fully open. Lakeside way two diversions inc a 2 mile main road section, red closed, blue open with diversions.
Anyway back to the show it was more than just cars as there was some motor bikes, tractors, vans etc. The weather made the day and did the lack of midges! On the way back we called in past Falstone tea room, opposite the pub for a cuppa.
