A warm but damp local loop to Birtley, Consett, Bearpark n home on the Creo Sl

Well after the storms on Tuesday where Durham had over a months worth of rain fall in just 2 hours alone and it hardly stopped raining for nearly 24 hours in total. Anything off road now is up the eyes in clarts. The lines are still good in parts and generally not too bad as I discovered on todays loop.
I hit the cycle land down the A167 to Chester Le Street and then the cycle lane to Birtley where I turned left and picked up the C2C to Lydgetts junction at Consett. It was dark as the start of the ride as I was up and out at 7am. The cycle lanes etc were soaking wet from the overnight rain but warm with the Garmin hovering around 10 degrees for the whole ride. There was still some canny puddles and soft sections of silt from the flooding on both old lines. Generally it was quiet on the roads and the lines with traffic and other users.
At Consett I turned left and down the old railway line towards Broompark but turned off left at Baxsters farm and home via Toll house bank, Whitesmocks bank then down Fram / Pity Me front streets new cycle lanes. The return leg was more pleasant as the sun came out and started to dry the roads up.
All in just under 35 miles in 2hr 33mins with an average of 13.7mph and climbed 1300ft.
Below are a few snaps from the loop, enjoy and hopefully more soon -
