A very sunny cold / warm local gravel 50 mile out n back ride along the old railway lines to Parkhead

Well the forecasted storms yesterday never arrived after all, we had some heavy'ish rain showers and that was it. The sun even got out later on!
So today it was forecast wall to wall sunshine for the whole day from sunrise to sunset so I was up and out on the bike before sunrise and it was cold in fact the Garmin was reading 4.2 degrees! It was a simple enough route as I had been up most of the night with the jimmy squirts and was feeling rough to say the least. I parked up at Broompark and headed straight up to Consett on the old railway line. It was lovely and quiet with no problems. At the junction I turned left and went straight up to Parkhead. The temperature was rising nicely but so was the headwind. There was not a sole in sight up at Parkhead so I had a quick drink, took a few photos and headed back to Broompark. The Garmin was now reading around 16 degrees, I had a tailwind and I was flying along. The line was busy around Lancherster but quiet again after that. Once I got back to Broompark I had covered 42.90 miles and was feeling weak so I took my arm warmers off, had a Cliff energy bar, some juice and headed along the old railway line towards Esh Winning. I was hoping for a 60 miler but my legs and body were screaming no so I managed a 50 miler instead. All in 50.1 miles in 3 hours 46 minutes with 1800ft of climbing.
Below are a few sunny snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon-
