Sunny / hot loop around Hamsterley Forest / Moors

Angus is on holiday this week and after he was decorating yesterday he wanted a day out today so we were Hamsterley bound. We parked up at Bedburn and rode into and then straight out of the forest over the moor to Doctors Gate. We then took the back lane / tack to the elephant trees over looking Frosterley. We then descended down towards Hillend but turned off left and over the moor to bring us out on the track down through the quarry and out at the bridge / picnic area. Then we climbed back up through another quarry onto the road towards Egglestone but turned off again on the long descent to another quarry, up the short steep climb to take us back into Hamsterley Forest. After the long descent from the end of the forest down to the bottom of dangerous descent junction, right then up the big climb all the way to the top crossroads to pick up the red route back to the Grove. Once at the Grove Angus only had one bar left so took the Grove link track back to the visitors centre then back to Bedburn, All in 25.5 miles, 2hrs 43 mins, 3100ft climbing. I had two full bars of battery left. The views were fantastic over the moors, not a cloud in the sky and 21 degrees! Below are a few snaps- enjoy and hopefully more soon -
