Fresh Goods Sunday - Shimano Dura Ace R9100 Cassette 11-30t 11 speed

This is a similar Fresh Goods Sundays to last weeks blog. As I mentioned previously the only Ultegra parts on the bike were the disc rotors and cassette. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Ultegra cassette and will probably last a long time. The shifting is near perfect and crisp. As I want to run both 700c and 650b wheels on the bike the Dura Ace rear mech max is 30t compared to the Ultegra rear mech on Mason is 32t. So the cassette that was on the Hunt 650b wheels was too big so fitted the Ulterga 11-30t caseate from the 700c Vision wheels on the Hunts. Instead of buying a second Ultegra I treated the new girl to a Dura Ace model instead! It is mega bucks compared to the Ultegra but now makes the bike full Dura Ace when in 700c mode. The materials of the cassette are different and lighter weigh to the Ultegra and weighs 42g less. Only time will tell if it lasts longer than the Ultegra. I have not had any problems in the past with 9 or 10 speed Dura Ace cassettes. After a few rides I will give more of a feedback on how smooth and crisp the gear changes are on the back.
RRP £229.00 and I paid £140.53 inc p&p.

Manufacturers blurb - Dura Ace R9100 11 speed cassette from shimano is a ultra light weight 11 speed cassette. It features computer designed tooth configuration for smooth shifting under load. The largest five sprockets are machined from titanium mounted to a alloy and carbon carriers to increase in stiffness. The weight of the cassette is further reduced by drilling and machining excess material from the sprockets with a nickle plate finish to resist corrosion.
  • Materials: Spider Arms: CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) & Alloy; Sprockets: Alloy & 5 Titanium sprockets for lightweight performance
  • Hyperglide EV sprockets have a computer designed tooth configuration with contoured shift gates, resulting in a crisp smooth shift even under load
  • Close ratio gearing allows a more efficient use of energy through finer cadence control
  • Largest sprockets are mounted on lightweight alloy and carbon carriers to reduce weight and increase rigidity
  • 5 largest sprockets are made from titanium to reduce weight without sacrificing strength
  • Sprockets are extensively cut away and drilled to further reduce weight without reducing rigidity
  • Nickel-plated finish offers hard wearing resistance to corrosion
  • Alloy cassette lockring
  • Weight: 175g (11-25T), 193g (11-28T), 211g (11-30T), 189g (12-25T), 205g (12-28T)
