Morning Dark loop around Durham & a trip out to South Shields

I was up and out early this morning for another dark but warm ride down to Durham. The students etc don't get up early on a Saturday so there was no runners / rowing boats etc out,  I had the trails nearly all to my self. In 15 miles I passed three people and one dog. The trails were still dry even after Fridays rain. There was very little wind again which made it feel warmer. I missed off a couple of short loops as I had to be back as we going to South Shields. Day light was coming through by the time I got back home as you can see in the last photo. All in just under 15 miles in 1hr 9mins with 650ft of climbing.
I need to sort out another seat pack as the velcro straps on Cannondale pack fitted have seen better days and kept coming undone.

Strange how the two light benches outside the passport office have been fixed and turned on again, must be the lumiere soon lol!

The massive log has been moved off the trod to block off an entrance to the field so the farmer has dumped two old round bails in the middle of the track now, still not see them in the dark when descending.

Then it was time for a spin over to South Shields. We parked up and had a walk up to the town for some shopping then dropped it back off at the car before heading down to the beach. We walked the full length of the beach but it was hard going as the sand was soft. The beach was busier than the town. On the way back along the path we stopped for a cuppa at the kiosk before heading back to the car. The weather was a mixture but very little wind, stopped dry, no sun and a lot warmer than forecasted.

The wife has been spending again, check out her new bonnie tassels. Oh and not to mention the new gilet as well
