Saturday morning local loop to Consett with Jane & Angus

This mornings ride was a local loop from home down to Chester Le Street on the cycle track then through to Birtley to pick up the C2C railway line to Consett. It started off sunny but soon clouded over and the temperature dropped. Once we reached Hownsgill viaduct it was real nippy so it was time to call in past the cafĂ© for a cuppa and toast. Once we had been feed and watered it was back on the bikes and it felt even colder on the way back down the old railway line towards Lanchester. Once in the bottom of the valley it was still cloudy but slightly warmer and less windy. Once at Baxsters Farm we turned off and headed back home. Just under 38 miles in 2hrs 58mins. Climbing was 1400ft. Once back home it was time to get changed into warmer clothing and wash / charge the three bikes and gut the van out. Below are a few snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon -
