Fresh Goods Sunday - Louis Garneau Women's Sapphire MTB Shoe

When Jane wants to ride the E bike instead of me or Angus I had to keep swapping over our spd pedals for her flat pedals with toe clips and it was a pain in the arse. I have tried several times over the last 20 years to convert her onto spd but she was having none of it but it has finally happened. I refused to swap the pedals anymore so it was either back on her own Scott mtb with flats or on the e bike with spd's. I had a quick search on the net for some cheapo ladies mtb shoes and found these from Evans. We were not bothered about colour or make just as long as they were value for money in case she could not get away with riding spd. They landed at the Durham store within 24hours and they fitted her feet. The next step was to fix a brand new pair of Richey cleats on and they were ready. I sent her a link from an email from Evans about a beginners guide to using spd, nothing I did not all ready know but a good read all the same. I put the bike against the garage wall with a step to the other side of the bike and she practised one foot at a time clicking in and twisting out. For some strange reason Jane pushes of with the left leg and dismounts with her right leg, not too worry. After some practice then it was onto some flat grass with me holding the bike. After 15 mins and onto a bigger grass field and pushing off and stopping on her own, no probs. I have had to wind the tension off on the pedals so it is easier for her to use as the cleats are brand new and have no wear on them yet.
As for the shoes well they are the same as every other brands cheapo bottom of the range shoes, three Velcro fasteners on the front, she says they are comfortable. Sole has plenty of grip and the sole plate looks rigid enough. They are not worth the full rrp but spot on vale at the sale price!
RRP £69.99 and I paid £14 inc next day delivery.
