Hottest day of the year gravel ride - ps the snow has finally melted at Consett

There was a lovely strong wind today but it was a totally different heat today. I set off up the C2C to Consett and the first part was lovely and shaded and felt lovely with the 15mph headwind. Once past  Annfield Plain its more in the open and was a lot hotter.
I turned at Consett and headed back down but had a tailwind this time. The temperature on the Garmin shot up by 5 degrees and it was very hot. In fact too hot for me to cycle in. It was only the shade on the second half of the downhill that kept me going. By the time I was finished the Garmin was reading 36 degrees, enough was enough and headed home. On the plus side there was very few others out n about on the line so very little slowing down and speeding again. The bike was spot on but I did not feel the best on a couple of sections.
All in 23 miles with an ave of 13.6 mph and 850ft of climbing. Back to average temperature again tomorrow so things will go back to normal.
PS - it is local joke that Consett has snow 11 months of year and it has finally melted over the last couple of days!
