Fresh Goods Sunday - Thomson Elite Inline Seatpost 30.9mm x 410mm Black

The original seat post in the Cube E Mtb is too short for when me and Angus was riding as it is a short post and the max height is not very high. We had a shim in to convert an old 27.2mm long carbon post but it was not ideal off road and we had concerns of snapping etc. I have numerous other Thomson seat posts inc the master piece model and have never had any problems what so ever. They are dead easy to install and fit saddles. Easy to adjust seat angle with the two allen bolts. There is plenty length on this 410mm version for both me and Angus to use on the 19" model. The finish is excellent, good weight to £ value.
On another note after fitting the new seat post - after the first ride I noticed the saddle had slipped down so readjusted it and nipped up the Cube quick release. Yesterday morning we headed off out and within two miles the saddle has dropped again. I re adjusted the height and nipped up the Cube quick release and the nut snapped. Back home and I swapped the seat post collar and it has not moved again. Angus has had a similar problem on his 21" and he is using the standard cube seat post and collar. We have fitted a hope collar and it has not slipped since - conclusion is that Cube quick release seat post collars are shit!
Thomson posts come in either black or silver, straight or layback, four different lengths and numerous diameters - LINK
RRP £89.99 and I paid £50.92 inc 48hr p&p

Manufactures blurb -
The Thomson Elite seatpost is the standard by which all other seatposts are judged. Forged clamps, integrally machined head, and an elliptically extruded 7000 series aluminum body have made the Elite and the Setback Elite the industry models for strength and ease of adjustment.
The Thomson Elite seatpost is over 40% stronger on ultimate strength tests than the strongest production seatposts on the market.
The Elite has double the fatigue life of any other production models we tested. The tube and head of the Thomson seatpost are integral-machined from one piece of high strength 7000 series aluminum. The head is not pressed or bonded in. This allows for superior strength and minimum weight.
Certified to: EN 14766 2006 MTB and DIN CERTCO: 2006 MTB
It’s incredibly lightweight—approximately 201 grams (250 length) for road bikes and 228 grams (330 length) for mountain bikes. The natural ellipse bore inside tube creates an optimum strength-to-weight ratio.
We have a long 1.614 inch (41 mm) seat rail grip length. This helps prevent seat rail bending from impact loads. Most other seatposts have grip lengths of at least .500 inches shorter than our grip length.
The Thomson seatpost design incorporates a bending fuse to prevent catastrophic failure. All competitive seatposts we tested failed catastrophically with the seat and clamp components, and sometimes pieces of the tube and head flew off in all directions.
The Thomson seatpost has a clamp, head, and upper tube strong enough to withstand 350 foot-lbs of torque. The tube will start to yield and bend at the seat tube clamp at about 250 foot-lbs of torque. Under severe impact the Thomson seatpost will bend slightly and allow the rider to come to a safe stop or finish the ride.
The Thomson seatpost has all parts captive and can easily be attached to a seat without dis-assembly.
Infinite tilt adjustment minus 5° and plus 29°.
Very low profile clamps means no seat interference as the swivel nuts are down between the seat rails.
The designs and materials have passed extensive life and ultimate strength tests. Our ongoing testing program ensures that every production lot of seatposts meets Thomson standards.
