Spin back from Meadowfield via Durham with Jane

Today we had to drop the van off at Meadowfield so we put the bikes in the back to have a ride back. The sky was dark, cloudy, blowing a gale and only 5 degrees when we left. Once we crossed the field at the sports centre to pick up the old railway line the sun started to come out and we were sheltered from the wind. The lines were lovely and quiet for a change. Once at Broompark we picked up the line to Baxters Farm then up Toll House road to Crossgate Moor. We dropped down the back of Johnston Comp through the woods to take us out in Durham. The roads in Durham were also quiet compared to the previous week. We then headed over to Maiden Castle / The Trod for a loop before heading home. All in we covered 14.5 miles. Fresh Goods Sunday - Miche Bosch Chainring 15t

Following on from last weeks Fresh Goods Sunday, with the lockring removed I could finally replace the chainring / cog. You have to remove a black rubber o ring first, this is very thin so have to take it steady so as not to damage it. Then remove the chainring which happened to be a FSA one. The quality looked good. After that there is a silver alloy washer behind. I removed that to clean the bb spindle area etc. Once all cleaned I refitted the spacer, fitted the new chainring, refitted the rubber o ring and refitted the lockring / bash guard. All in it did not take that long. The Miche replacement is thinner than the FSA cog and I noticed that on the back of the FSA cog there is a section machined out to compensate for the extra width on the teeth. The Miche cog did not have this and looks cheaper but it will not be doing that mush mileage.

Saturday morning Meadowfield / Spenny / Bishop gravel loop on Spec Creo SL Comp Carbon

I thought my legs would have been more tired today after yesterdays hilly road ride but they felt ok so I was up early and wrapped up another two sold ebay items with the sun was blazing away through the window. I called in past the post office then I went for a ride.
I parked up at Meadowfield and did one of my regular mostly gravel / old railway line loop. The lines were mainly quiet and not that many cars on the short road sections either.
It was sunny when I left the post office but as soon as I started the ride it clouded over. I never seen the sun once again during the whole ride. Once I got back home it was sunny again. Anyway I covered 21.50 miles in 1hr 30mins, ave 14mph and only climbed 800ft. No problems with the bike but needs a wash / dry / lube and charge now.

Yesterday when I was having a second clear out in my spares tubs I found a blue anodised bling kit so fitted some to the Creo. I also fitted a new Cannondale chainstay protector to the Synapse Neo and replaced the damaged rubber band on the cadence sensor / crank arm.  

 

 

I have now sold 55 bike parts / bikes and have cleared £11.2k, unreal how much stuff I had stashed away. Another bike to go and another possible two after that. Only got a few parts left but have another pile to go onto ebay the next time the £1 selling offer comes around.
