They are only small and light but could save you a long walk / lift home. Many years ago me & Angus were out on the road bikes and his side wall blew out on his rear Conti GP tyre. We didnt have anything to bodge the split so was a phone call for a lift back home from Wolsingham. Since then i have bought the PArk Tool TB-2 boots and put a one in the seatpacks on the bikes. I have only ever had to use one since the road tyre splitting thank god. It didnt stick very well but stopped the inner tube coming through and got me home.
