Well our planned ride down to the Big Meeting in Durham but we had to cancel that. I had to get some urgent banking sorted and Durham was out of the question with over 100,000+ expected visitors due so had to go to Chester Le Street instead. I was also reading in the Durham Advertiser that Durham Constabulary were banning bikes from the roads in Durham today as well, now that's a first in all the years I have been going!
After sorting out the banking and some shopping we had a couple of hours before Angus started his shift at 1pm. We parked up near West Pelton and joined the C2C line for a ride up to the coal truck and back. It started out overcast with a good old head wind nearly all the way up. Once we got to Leadgate the sun came out and was lovely. A few quick snaps and we "turned and burned" back down the line with the a tail wind! we were bombing along. Not many people out just a few dog walkers and some cyclists. On that note I nearly got wiped out on the way up as a large group of kids were coming down at 20+mph, they all went into single file then a lad half way through the pack decided to pull straight out onto the opposite side of the track and was head on with me, I braked and headed for the grass verge, I think he will need to his Y fronts when he gets to end of there ride! Only a few snaps as we didn't have much time to spare -
