A frosty and cold local route on the Creo 2 to Birtley - Consett - Bearpark loop

After the last three days of having a good long walk / hike it was time to get back out on the bike. Another overnight frost with plenty of white frost and ice with the Garmin hovering around 0 degrees first thing. Todays route was a loop I have not done in while so I headed off down the cycle track to Chester Le Street, then out of Chester Le Street towards Birtley. This is where I turn off the A167 and pick up the old railway line / C2C and heads upwards. From where I join on to the line is 14 miles of uphill all the way to the crossroads junction at Consett. It was  mainly quiet so I just kept my head down and took it steady on the corners. The sun was in and out with not too much head wind. The temperature picked up a little the higher I was getting. Once at the junction I turned left and headed towards Broompark. By now the sun had melted the frost on the line and it was pea soup soft in places. This stretch of old railway line was a lot busier now with dog walkers, cyclists, horse riders, runners, you name it. Once I had reached Baxters Farm I turned off left and headed back to Pity Me. All in it was 35 miles on the nose in 2hrs 35mins with 1400ft of climbing.
Below are a few snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon-
