A sunny and very windy post storm ride along the old railway lines

The rain has finally stopped so I decided to have a spin out on the bike. It has been 12 days since I last slung my leg over the saddle. I had a route planned where it offered some shelter from the strong wind and was hopefully not too muddy after the storms over the last three days. I hoped onto the old railway line at Langley Park and had a headwind all the way to Broompark picnic area junction. I decided to turn left and keep on going into the headwind to Bishop Auckland. This stretch of old railway line was a lot more drier and less puddles. All the blown down trees have been cleared apart from one. It was early doors so not many others out n about apart from a few dog walkers. There was a lovely sunrise after 7.30am and it started to warm up. After a lap around the market place and a quick drink I headed back now with a very strong tailwind! By now it was busier with a lot more people so there was a lot of slowing down and speeding back up again. All in 29 miles in 2hrs 12mins with just under 1000ft of climbing. Below are a few snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon-
