After I went around the Lakeside Way I jumped onto the Cube E mtb and headed back along the South side of the Lakeside way to pick up the start of Lonesome Pine red trail. Once you go under the road and up the hill you cannot follow the path around the water where you turn off right as they are logging Lewisburn so they are diverting you straight onto the fire road to miss the whole of Lewisburn section out. The fire road takes you all the way to first short singletrack section then its more fire road climbing before the switch backs, 6 miles in. The last section before you get to the bottom of the switch backs is very overgrown, washed out, rough going. The board walks were dry on the day so you could just about stand up on them. The descent back down has been smoothed off for the first section but the second section is very rough and the third section down to the garage is not too bad. I never seen a single sole the whole ride. It started off cloudy but the sun came out on the way down from the top. The temperature also picked up to around 12 degrees. All in covered 10.40 miles with 1300ft of climbing in 59 mins.
Below are a few snaps from the ride and video clip coming down the board walk from the top. Enjoy and Part 3 to follow asap.
