Spin along to Bishop n back from Meadowfield

 

Another fine day after heavy overnight / early morning rain. The old railways lines were not so dry today and they were real wet and muddy through the wooded sections with all the fallen leaves. It was also slow going as every man and his dog was out and about today for some reason. Nothing to do with the 2 days of near continuous rain forecasted for the weekend yet again! Today was a shorter spin from Meadowfield to Bishop n back. I had a spin around the market place / Town Hall at Bishop end and it was dead. There was not a sole kicking around. The bike was fine but could do with a good wash and some tlc now. As for me I felt more tired today and my rear end must have lost its saddle shape over the two months of not being in the saddle as it was sore to start with but eased during the ride. Back out on the bike again, thank the lords. A local mainly gravel loop

 

Well I took a couple of hours off work this morning as the forecast was for some much needed sunshine for a change. Well it started off cloudy / overcast but the sun did eventually come through and what a beautiful local loop it was. I parked up at Broompark and headed off up along the old railway line to Stanley Crook then down to Crook. Once at Crook I hit the tarmac for another climb and fast descent down to the Coop at Willington. I turned left here and picked up another old railway line back to Broompark. 17.50 miles and my legs were feeling it. It has been just under 8 weeks since I have slung my leg over a top tube and by god it was nice to be back out again. I thought the lines would have been up the naff's but they were reasonable dry and mud free considering the amount of rain we have had recently. The lines were also lovely and quiet with just a few others out and about during lockdown. Well I say lockdown it does not feel like lookdown up here in Co Durham. The roads are chokka with traffic and it seems like a normal day/week/month apart from a few shops closed. Anyway below are a few snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon - 

 

 

 

 

A break away in the Lakes

In the Oct School holiday week we had a few rather wet, cold and windy days over in the Lakes. As ever we stayed over just outside Penrith and had days out from there. At one point we thought it might have been cancelled due to the up coming lockdown but just managed before they announced the coutry wide lockdown instead of regional restrictions. The Lakes were not that busy and quite a few places were still closed or restricted access, not too worry still an enjoyable time away from work and craft.
