The Lakes Hol Snaps Part 1

Well we have been over to the snowy and freezing cold Lakes for the last four days. We knew it was going to rough going and the forecast never let us down. We had gale force winds, drifting snow, driving sleet, lashing rain and the temperature never got above 3 degrees from the time we left home to the time we got back home. There was road closure's on the passes several days and had the shovel at the ready. We always come home via Hartside but that was unpassable on the Wednesday. We checked the weather camera and you could not even see the road! The tops on the A66 was not much better with the road nearly down to one lane Eest bound and total white out with drifting snow West bound. Wagons curtain walling / roofs were ripped off with the gales. Driving rain/spray/surface water so bad the wipers could not keep up. Some of the worst driving conditions I have ever driven in.
It was nice to get away and the lakes were very quiet, in fact its the quietest we have been seen the roads / towns. Below are a few snaps and it even stopped snowing/raining for a 4 hour gap when we visited Ambleside.

Fresh Goods Sunday - BBB BTL-18 Tools & Tubes Storage Can

I bought this is part of an order from Sigma Sports as it was just too cheap to turn down. I have a Pro 500ml storage bottle on my Mason and never comes off. I also have a Pro 750ml storage bottle but sometimes that is too big for what I need to carry in it. The BBB 450ml version has a much better thread / feeling / secure lid than the Pro and is a more thicker / less flexible plastic body. It is hard to tell on the photos but the BBB is a smaller diameter than the Pro. It is a loose fit in a couple of my cages but it perfect fit in other cages. I think it will mainly be used on the Super X and Slate if and when Angus ever gets the time off / decides to get back out again. You can fit a spare tube, energy bar and small compact multi tool in it. The logos will probably wear off in time with us and the plastic will scratch just like the Pro but if it holds some spare gear and does not jump out of the cage who's really bothered. As for the money well what more could you ask for!

Sunday morning ride down and around Durham.

This morning the sun was out so I took the Mason out for a spin down and around Durham. There was a freezing cold wind and plenty of ice as well. The trails are very muddy and loads of massive icy puddles about. Durham river banks were busy with people out and about. The bike was spot on but I was puffing of the steep climbs.
I have also been on the turbo five times this week, 5k trail run and a walk for over an hour.
