We had a busy day yesterday and never stopped. I also tried my Hunt 650b wheels on the new Neo. The front takes a 2" tyre without problem. If running in very muddy conditions it will not clear on the sides but if it is bad with thick mud I have the mtb for them conditions. The rear end is a different kettle of fish. With the frame / dropouts being AI off set a standard dished wheel is pushed over to the drive side by approx 6mm so reduces the tyre width you can run. If I had a rear off set dished wheel then you could probably run 2" without problems on the rear stays at the top but might be tighter down at the bottom stays / bb area. With that not fitting I tried the Surly Knard and this cleared and I also tried a Schwable G One and that also cleared. I swapped the pedals over to mtb clipless and it was ready for todays ride.
It was Baltic cold wind first thing but the sun was trying to break through. We had a massive headwind in quite a few sections on the way out to Bishop via Croxdale, Tudhoe Village, Spenny. When we reached Bishop it was cuppa and buttie time in Spoons! It was boiling inside as well so we soon warmed up again. We were soon back out again and a spin through Bishop and over the viaduct. We were then back on the old railway line heading for home. On the way back we called in past to see Janes mum at Brandon care home. We had a tailwind all the way back and the sun came out, what a lovely return leg to the ride. The lines were also lovely and quite. Back home it was time to wash the bikes, charge the bikes and do some fine fettling on both bikes.
Below is a few cloudy, cold snaps and some sunny / warmer looking snaps. Enjoy and hopefully more soon.
