Well I have lived in the UK all my life and know what the weather is like. I have had full 3 layer Goretex jackets for years. Goretex over trousers, Goretex linned shoes etc. That is all well and good when its chucking down but I was after a small packable lightweight jacket that was packable and had a hood. I have small pertex jackets but don't have a hood and soak through after 15 mins or so of rain. I found this one when we were shopping up in the Toon one day in the North Face shop. It ticked all my boxes and has been taken out and worn several times and is spot on. It packs away small enough to go into a bag. Has a hood and is waterproof enough for heavy continuous showers. Plenty pockets with zips, waist and hood are adjustable. Perfect for Spring and Autumn seasons, even in a normal summer but not this year! You don't get too sweaty and plenty room for some base layers underneath. The rrp is a little high but shop around as there is always deals on last years colours / models and on line discount codes.
