What a difference two days of dry weather makes. We have had no rain on Thursday and was a lovely day. I managed a 2 hour walk after washing the bike from the mornings ride. Jane was off yesterday so after a few jobs in the morning we headed over to Washington Galleries for some dinner and some shopping. Again another dry day but a biting cold wind.
I was up and out early this morning before the forecasted rain starts at 10am for the rest of the day / night. I mainly stuck to gravel trails and tarmac this morning on the route down to Durham, around Maiden Castle, trod then back home via Frankland loop. I gave Houghall woods a miss as it will still have been 3-5" of solid clarts. The trails / puddles have dried up a lot since Thursday morning. It was also lovely and quite at 7am and only past a few dog walkers, joggers and no other cyclists. It was misty and overcast in Durham with temperatures topping out at 1.6 degrees around the river banks. No ice or frost and no sun or wind.
No need to wash the bike or cycling kit thank god for a change when I got back in. We are off to the Craft Fair at Ushaw College which is on over the weekend just outside Bearpark. Enjoy the photos below and hopefully more soon -
