Early Sunday morning ride on the Cannondale Slate Apex

I was up and out the house before 7.30am today and it was dark to say the least. The forecast said it was +5 degrees but at the end of our estate the road was covered in ice. This was the same all the way down the cycle track following the A167 to Chester Le Street. When I was riding around the riverside the Garmin reached a low of -2.8 degrees, a fair way off +5 degrees! From there I joined the cycle lane to Birtley to pick up the C2C to Consett, Within a couple of miles it was like riding in an oven. The temperature had shot up and no ice on the track. Everything on the bike was sweating condensation. It's a good old tug from Birtley to Hownsgill but a good work out for your legs,. Once at Hownsgill I turned and headed back to the junction to turn right and down the old railway line to Broompark. Once I dropped some height and hit Lanchester it was back to freezing again with fog patches. At least the lines were not like the past 8 miles of pea soup conditions.
All in a cracking spin out on the Cannondale Slate Apex, I just love this bike and cannot stop picking it for rides. Below are a few pics from todays 38 mile loop, enjoy and hopefully more soon -
