Cycling Magazines - Bikes etc, Singletrack, Cycling Plus & Road Bike Action

As i have more spare time on my hands than normal at the mo im trying to catch up with some of this months magazines that seem to have piled up. I subscribe to Singletrack & Cycling Plus and sometimes buy another magazine if im and and about shopping. This month we have been over to the Lakes so always call in past Arragons Newsagents in Penrith as they have a vast selection of cycling magazines inc some hard to find yankie ones. I knew i would have the potential spare time to read them when i was waiting in hospital for my various appointemts etc so bought Road bike action which i have been reading on and of for many years now. Sometimes there is alot if interesting articles sometimes not - it is hit and miss for me and i only buy on occassions. Their sister offroad magazine Mountain bike action has been going even longer and used to buy this regularly in the hay days of mtb'ing. I also come across a new British magazine called Bikes etc when i was in WH Smiths in Keswick, its a new mag to hit the shelves, had a quick flick and bought a copy. I like the concept of this magazine with the general news stories at the front then into testing/reviews of bikes and gear then finishing off with some feature stories. Its not packed full of adverts (at the mo) and not full of road racing / foreign rides which dont really interest me. Its priced at £4.75, about average and so far has been a good read. Not sure if they will manage to survive in the market, good luck to them.
Now onto Singletrackworld who i have backed right from the start, im sure i have every edition somewhere. Now this was the best mtb magazine by far right from the start but has lost its way over the last few years. Each copy that comes through there is less and less interesting fresh uk stories, far too much foriegn articles for me and when it gets to the 100th edition i think i will be calling it a day of this magazine. The price has gone through the roof and is now £5.95 in the shops for just over a hundred pages. Bring back the old style editions and writing i say.
Last but not least is Cycling Plus which is road bike orientated, this has been up and down over the years but i having been subscribing to it for the past 2+years now. The cover price is £4.99 for a single edition from the shops but is if you sign up is works out at about £2.70 a copy. This is good value as its always has plenty variety of articles, stories & reviews etc.
Enough typing and going off to do some more reading !
