The new copy of BASE magazine, issue #5 landed this week, not had time to look through it yet but there are two articles which include or are based on cycling at a very quick glance. It was not that long since the previous issue had landed #4.
Yesterday me and Jane had a drive out over to Penrith. It was a last minute decisions in the morning so packed our rain coats, cold coats and shower proof coats. There was a very heavy drizzle and overcast when we left but half way over the drizzle had stopped and temperature went up to 13 degrees. There are two massive long sections of road works on the A69, down to single carriage way and 30,40 & 50 mph speed limits with cameras. If I had knew that I would have gone over the tops on the way there. We had a lovely walk around Penrith and the sun tried to get out and warmed up nicely. After spending nearly a couple hundred quid we set off for Hartside / Alston. Half way up Hartside it clouded misted over and back to the heavy drizzle yet again. It was that wet and windy & cold we did not stop this time. The roads were wet coming down off the top to Alston and loads of cyclists out as well. Some had no rear lights on in the very poor visibility and black clothing, not ideal when motorbikes are flying past and loads of car enthusiasts were out on trips.
We also stopped at the new Shell garage just outside Wolsingham to top the beast up and then stocked at Crook for the last of shopping before getting home around 4pm.
I also bought a copy of Cycling Electric issue 3 when I was WH Smiths.
and I have been after some energy bars for a while. Evans don't have any, Inspiral Cycles bars all had huge amounts of nuts in them or were out of date. So I popped into see Willow the shop dog at Arragons Cycles and bought some new bars to keep me going for a while.
