Fresh Goods Sunday - Sidi Tiger Matt Carbon SRS MTB Shoes

If you have been following my blog over the years you know I love my Sidi cycling shoes and I have been using them for 25 years plus now. They last for ever and never drop to pieces and nothing never seems to break on them. I give them a hard life as I never wash / clean them, just dry them out after a wet / damp ride. There was nothing wrong with my older srs mtb shoes and have replaced the inserts on the soles and replaced the cleats and are still going strong and will probably last for many more years. This newer matt tiger srs version popped up in the sale and could not resist buying them! So I have fitted a new pair of Ritchey cleats and removed / copper greased all the bolts / screws on the soles and they are ready to rock n roll. I am keeping this pair for pure road rides with any bikes I use with spd pedals. Then I have my older mtb Sidi's for off road rides and my Sidi road shoes for my bikes with my Time pedals fitted.
As ever the build quality / feel is top dollar. They slide on like a pair of slippers and are super comfortable from the go. After a while they do mould to the shape of your feet just like a good pair of leather shoes do. The ratchet system is easy to use to tension up the wires. I don't tend to adjust the rear heel tension as they are ok for me straight out of the box. The sole is super stiff and you cannot feel any flex when in the saddle but walking around off the bike is not very comfortable. As ever with Sidi the rrp is just plain crazy so as ever shop around at the end of the season for a good buy. Normal saving are around 40 to 45% off.

Double-Techno-3 Push System The Double-Techno-3 Push System is inserted on a single base, this speeds up wearing and taking off shoes. The central mechanism creates a perfect tension balance between the shoe’s internal and external side. The symmetrical mechanism guarantees an excellent closure adapting on every instep. An innovative button added to the monofilament buckle, if pushed, lifts the buckle to facilitate the adjustment.
Adjustable Heel Retention Device The ADJUSTABLE HEEL RETENTION DEVICE reinforces the top of the heel cup and improves the fit by closing the back of the shoe securely around the rider’s heel. The heel retention device tightens the top of the heel cup so that the heel doesn’t slide out during steep climbs or sprints. Each side of the heel can be adjusted independently, for a perfect fit. For a custom adjustment turn the screw towards the + sign to tighten the heel retention device and towards the – sign to open it. Light weight, easy to use, and replaceable.
MTB SRS Carbon-Ground Sole The MTB SRS CARBON-GROUND Sole raises the standard for mountain bike performance, dropping off about 100 grams per pair compared to the previous Dragon Carbon SRS sole without sacrificing power or durability. The MTB SRS CARBON-GROUND Sole consists of replaceable tread blocks in the toe and heel attached to a medium modulus carbon sole, plus the innovative Replaceable MTB Plate, designed to prevent sole damage from pedal contact. Most Dual-Retention Bar type MTB Pedals (such as Crankbrothers and LOOK) recommend using a reinforcement plate between the cleat and the shoe in order to prevent cracking or denting the sole. The MTB Plate can be replaced in case of damage from the pedal system, so adding the weight of an aftermarket reinforcement plate is optional. The Ground SRS treads and MTB Plate are easily removable and replaceable. The MTB SRS CARBON-GROUND Sole is toe-spike compatible.
Sidi Heel Cup Reinforced cup that stabilizes and supports the heel. Anatomically shaped plastic reduces heel slip and provides increased power transfer. Provides additional foot protection in the event of a crash.
Rubber Toe Upper part of the toe section is rubberized to resist and deflect impacts from stones or debris when cycling. It is made with anti-slip rubber.
