After yesterdays shopping day with Jane in the gale force winds and rain showers it was time to get the bike out this morning as the wind and rain has gone and a good overnight frost brought out the winter sun. It was a freezing cold ride on the leg out until the sun came out, the Garmin reached minus -3.7 degrees! Once we were heading towards Sunderland via the old c2c route the temperature had picked up. The out skirts of Sunderland has not picked, there was loads of glass and rubbish all over the paths / roads. Once we were through the town centre we crossed over the bridge and picked up the c2c route down to the glass centre. I fancied a cuppa but it was closed, we were too early. We turned and headed back up the c2c route through Washington etc and joined onto the a167 at Birtley. What we did not notice was that we had a tailwind all the way down to the coast as when we headed back up we had a headwind all the way. The café in Chester Le Street park was open but Angus did not want to stop so we picked up the cycle lane all the way back home. All in a good ride and with no problems. We covered just under 36 miles with not much climbing - 1600ft. Below are a few snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon - off to wash and check over the bikes and wash two cars as well, oh the joys!
ps I was going to do a Fresh Goods Sunday on some winter tights but Angus took them this morning and are in the washer now, I will post it when they are out and dried so I can take some snaps.
