Fresh Goods Sunday - Specialized S209900061 Range Extender Cable O Ring Set

I bought my range extender battery many years ago for my first Creo along with the correct length cable, shorter one (they come in two lengths) for the Creo's. On the cable they have a double O ring seal on the top which plugs into the battery and a double O ring seal at the other end which plugs into the frame.
I noticed a while ago that one of the O rings on the battery end was past its sell by date and was splitting apart. I must admit that I never noticed that there was two on each end until I looked into it further. The O rings on the frame end of the cable are harder to see as they are set down in the connector.
I called in past Bike Scene at Guisborough which is now a Specialized only store and asked if they had any replacements. After some time of searching on the computers / mobiles they found the part number. Then checking their own stock the computer said three available. After a while later he come back from the stock room with a small bag with the washers in. This is when I found out there was five O rings in the kit, two for the top, two for the bottom and a spare one. Now then comes the shocking part - he checks the current rrp and he nearly fell over before even telling me before I fell over. I am sure he muttered £11.99 or £13.99. There was no way on this earth could they charge this for five tiny thin rubber washers. On the back of the packet which looked like it had been in their stock room for many years it had £3.50 on. The lad did the decent thing and charged me the old rrp!
Now comes to the fitting - to remove the old o rings I picked out a suitable small hook from my selection and removed the top two with no problems. Fitting the new first one you must ensure it goes over the tiny ridge of plastic then the second one sits in the grove on the other side so there is an o ring either side. Now down at the bottom it is harder to remove with the second buried deep inside the connector. Fitting the first new one took a while to get pushed right down into the grove and over the dividing ridge. The second one was not as hard as its closer to the top.
Now my extender cable is good as new with hopefully many more years of use

RRP £11.99 or £13.99 and I paid £3.50 from Bike Scene (Specialized) Guisborough.

Fresh Goodies - Assos MILLE GT Wind Vest C2 Black Series & Evoc Seat Bag Med

Lets get caught up with a few fresh goodies that have been bought recently. I decided to treat myself to a new gilet / vest for the summer. My older Attacus one is still going strong apart from the zip riding up opening at the bottom a few times it is perfect.
As you are probably aware that I tend to by Assos cycle clothing now so looked on line and their thinest / lightweight gilet was the MILLE GT model. Comes in loads of colours and sizes as normal but very low stock everywhere in the UK.
A quick shop around and My Triathlon had a black one in my size in stock. RRP £100 and I paid £85 inc next day delivery. I have worn it a few times and so far so good, more riding and miles and I will post up a blog in Fresh Goods Sunday.

Now then after my last ride out on my Creo 2 road bike and I needed to get into my saddle bag the zip was seized old and could not open it. Once hack home I tried everything to ease the zip open but would not move. I had to cut open the pack to get the stuff out. When I was passing Infinity Cycles I called in to see what they had as I did not have a spare small seat pack. They had some lovely Topeak ones, same model as I have on my Cannondale Synapse Neo but they were very expensive. Then I found this Evoc one down the mtb end of the hop in medium and black for £15.99, very basic but was big enough for what I wanted to put in and not too big where everything would rattle around. I paid £15.99 and the rrp has gone up to £21.99 now. Again I will post a Fresh Goods Sunday on it in the coming months.

A short warm and dusty local gravel ride

Well my motivation has well and truly gone, there has been several days where I have said to myself I need to get a ride in but it has not happened for one reason or another. Today was the time to make a effort and get a short gravel ride in. It was a simple out n back and just over 20 miles. The lines are back to being bone dry, dusty and rock hard again after the recent rain. The sun was in and out for the whole ride but still warm. The Garmin was hovering between 19 - 23 degrees. I had a head wind on the way out and on the way back in as it was like a U shaped ride. The Creo 2 is still going strong and I patched the front tyre again and is holding out.
Below are a couple of snaps from the ride, enjoy and hopefully more soon-

Fresh Goods Sunday - Castelli Classifica Short Sleeved Jersey (Military Green)

If you have followed my blog over the years you will know that I don't normally buy Castelli clothing but this jersey was too good a deal to miss out on. I loads of short sleeved jerseys to pick from but this one has been tucked away in my spare stock drawer and time it was dragged out and put into use. The quality seems reasonable enough for the money. The material is very thin and nearly see through which ideal for the hotter rides. The zip is nice and smooth with an easy grabbable zipper pull. There is the three standard pockets to the rear and one smaller side zipped pocket as well. That is about it for features apart from a stripe across to the top of the chest area on the front. One thing I noticed after the first ride was its a bit short in length on the bag and front compared to my Assos jerseys. That is about the only negative I can fine. It washes well and dry very quickly.

RRP £85 and I paid £20 from Infinity Cycles Discount 77%

An early morning sunny ride around Durham & Maiden Castle before work

After yesterdays rain, sun, wind etc I was up and out early doors this morning as we have a few hours sun forecasted also I am working from home first thing for a change. I was out just after 5.30am and it was pure heaven on the tracks n trails. Durham city centre was very busy as it is graduation time for the Durham Uni bods. The tracks are still running fast but the dust has finally gone with the recent rain. I normally take my Trek Marlin+ but I had the Creo 2 handy for a quick dart this morning. It was lovely and sunny with very little wind but it was nippy, the Garmin dipped to around 8 degrees. Below are a few sunny snaps, enjoy and hopefully more soon-
