Well that was a funny weekend. It did not feel like a weekend by any counts. Yesterdays weather was awful to say the least, we had driving rain, sleet, snow, you name it. I decided to set up the new turbo trainer but there are f ew issues with it so that has gone back in the box and ready to go back!
Today the forecast was looking a lot better. I was up and out by 7.30am and it was cold, not freezing but 2 degrees. The wind had died down a little which made a huge difference. I took the Creo Carbon SL e bike for a loop on County Durham's old railway lines. I crossed over to Baxters wood to pick up the line to Broompark picnic area then on the line to Bishop Auckland. The line was damp but not muddy and still very fast going under tyre. There was a few other people out and about but not many. Once at Bishop I went over the viaduct / through the market place and up the hill to pick up the next line to Spennymoor. On the way to Spenny the sun was trying its best to come through and it did manage in the end and it put some warmth in the air. I went through Spenny, Tudhoe Village, Croxdale then through Croxdale estate to come out at Bowburn then around the back way to Low Shincliffe, around Maiden Castle into Durham and out of Durham and back home via Frankland / The sands. All in 37.5 miles, 3hrs on the nose, ave 12.5mph and just under 2000ft of climbing.
Below are some early morning cloudy snaps then some later morning sunny snaps, enjoy and hopefully more soon -
