Snowy catch up

Apologies for the lack of blogs recently, last week we had a good old dose of snow and caused major problems on the road as the 10mph club came back out again! The lines were polsih sheet ice at the weekend so i did not get out on the bike but we did have a trip to Dalton Park on the Saturday and that was baltic and snowing. Sunday we had a spin through to Bishop Auckland for some food / petrol shopping etc.

I did manage to spend some time on my Cube E mtb, the front brake has gone spoungy again so tried to fettle that, checked the rear pads and they will need replacing soon. Tweaked the erar mech cable tension. Washed the bike and cleaned the drive train.
Since new i havenever been overly impressed with teh Magura brakes on the bike. I have been looking into some new Hope of Shimano xt 4 pot's. The front one is simple to swap but the rear one not so. I have only had the battery out once and notied the cables run down the top of the down tube then disappear where the motor is and comes out on the inside of the rear stay towards the disc mount. Time to get some covers etc off and try and find the route of the hose. After stripping the bash guard, left motor cover, left crank arm i found the hose. By good it looks tight and fiddly to swap if the motor is left in place but do able.
I will keep on using the Maguras for a while longer and see how they fair up.
Bleow are a few snaps of the strip down, enjoy and hopefully more soon -

ps Fresh Goods Sunday will be back this weekend, sorry for the last couple of weeks off but the new winter tights have been in testing in the recent cold, wet, snowy weather.
