Saturday morning ride upto Hownsgill Viaduct n back

This mornings ride was a straight forward ride up the old railway lines to the Consett junction, turn left and up to Hownsgill Viaduct. We stopped for a couple of mins for a drink, photos but it was that windy we were soon turned and heading back down the line. The café at Hownsgill is still closed for their summer hols so stopped at Knitsley café instead on the way back for a cuppa and cake. Once refuelled it was a tailwind nearly all the way back down the line as opposed to the headwind nearly all the way up. As you can see in the photos is was mostly overcast and cloudy with the odd break of sun for a second or two at times but it did keep dry. The lines are still damp and muddy through the wooded sections and very quiet this morning. I was on the Mason and Jane on her Scott carbon scale contessa. Enjoy the pics and hopefully more soon -
