Stockton Cycling Festival

Sunday is the main festival day with a packed programme of activities you can watch, join in and enjoy, including – our fantastic Family Festival Day and events village where you’ll find loads of exciting things for you and your family to enjoy, Youth Racing supported by Stockton Wheelers, our first Extreme Bike Battle, our fun, family RideStockton event and a thrilling Stockton Grand Prix where top cycling teams and riders will compete in this elite road race.
Various road closures will be in operation on Sunday between 5am – 7pm:-
9am–11am – A1305 Riverside, North Shore Gyratory and Council of Europe Boulevard – temporary road closures and diversions will be in operation 5am – 7pm.
12pm-2.30pm – A1305 Riverside / North Shore Gyratory / The Square east / Bishop Street / Silver Street / High Street – temporary road closures 10:30am – 3pm.
12pm-4pm – Circular route including Stockton Centre, A177 Durham Road, Thorpe Thewles, Carlton, Whitton, Stillington, Thorpe Leazes, A177, Wynyard Woodland Park, Blakeston Lane and returning to central Stockton. Roads and junctions will be temporarily closed via ‘rolling road closures’ managed by Cleveland Police at various locations during this time. Final circuits around North Shore (Dugdale Street, North Shore Road) / Teesdale (University Boulevard, Harvard Avenue, Princeton Drive (part) will be carried out under temporary road closures which will be implemented from 2:30pm – 7pm on roads in North Shore and 2:30pm – 6pm in Teesdale.
Signed diversion routes for the closures of North Shore Gyratory and Riverside will be signed via Old Portrack Lane, A1305 (Maritime Road, Allison Street, Leeds Street, Nelson Terrace, Prince Regent Street, Churchyard Link Road) and St John’s Crossing.
The event running order for Sunday is:
  • 9am – Event Village opens on Stockton Riverside (activities running until 5pm)
  • 9-11am – Youth Racing
  • 1.15pm – Youth Race prize presentation (Event Village)
  • 11-11.30am – Extreme Bike Battle-round 1 (Event Village)
  • 12pm – Stockton Grand Prix start on Riverside Road, see route here
  • 12.10pm – RideStockton start on Riverside Road, see route here
  • 12.30-1pm – Extreme Bike Battle-round 2 (Event Village)
  • 2-2.30pm – Extreme Bike Battle-round 3 (Event Village)
  • 2.30pm – King of the Extreme Bike Battle crowned (Event Village)
  • 2.30pm – RideStockton ends
  • 3-4pm – Grand Prix Return / Finish, see route here

  • 5pm – event closes
