Fresh Goods Sunday - Wildcat Gear - Cheetah top tube pack

You may have noticed this bag on a few photos from our Peebles holiday. I was after another frame bag for some extra storage space on my Cannondale Beast of the East but did not want a full frame bag. I have seen Revelate Designs jerrycan bag fitted to many bikes on the net etc over the years and was just what I was looking for. I then come across the same design bag from Wildcat Gear called the cheetah but was slightly larger and is made in the UK. I ordered one from their website and landed approx one week later. At first glance the material looks very similar to the Alpkit bags but feels more padded. The two velcro straps are sewn into the bag unlike the Alpkit bags which are threaded through loops. The construction of the bag looks very good and fitting is easy but you have to cut off the excess velcro straps. If you are going to fit it to another bike which has much larger top tube / seatpost you may have problems as you cannot replace the straps. The rrp is £45 inc the p&p which was £2.85. Compared to the Alpkit and Revelate bags this is on the high side by along way, tbh I just cannot see where they warrant the extra rrp £'s. Shame Alpkit do not sell this bag as its about the only bike bag they don't sell.
In use I can fit another spare 27.5" inner tube, energy bar and co2 cartridge with head and that's about it. It never moved during use up in Scotland and held firmly in place. I did not notice it either when riding but sometime when I get off and on the bike I might knock it slightly, may be because I am not used to a nag being fitted there.
Here is the manufacturers blurb -

FYI -
The Jerrycan® is a small rear mount specific bag to max out your carrying space. It’s narrow, only 2″ wide, so your legs don’t hit it when peddaling. Good for carrying some spares, tools, or some food.
Constructed with VX 21 fabric, padded ballistics nylon along the tube sections, yellow interior, Plastic HD side panel inserts, #5 ykk water resistant zipper, an interior elastic keeps things from rattling.
There are two Jerrycan models:
Regular – For most bikes, the seat post / top tube angle is slightly obtuse to fit lots of frames. If your bike has an acute angle there ( really sloping, dropped top tube) then it will just be pushed foreword a bit and take up more real estate along the top tube.
Bent – For bikes with gusseted braces at the seat tube/ top tube junction.
Note – These bags are rear mount specific, they will only work up front if you have a lot of spacers under your stem.
Weight:2.6 oz
Volume:35 cu in approx dimensions: 5″x2″x4″ (L,W,H)
£31 + p&p, in black & camo
