Oct Hols - a very wet but warm break

The photo above just about sums up the whole time we were away! We knew it was going to wet on the long term forecast but was hoping they would be wrong. We left Co Durham on Sunday morning in the dry, got 1/2 way over to the Lakes and it was pouring down with the wipers on full bore! We had planned to go to the South Lakes which was going to be drier. Once arriving at South lakes safari zoo the near gale force winds blew the rain away thank god, this was the going to be only dry day we had. We have vistied the zoo last year and had a great day, again it was a good day out for the family - £25 and several new parts of the zoo have now been opened up. From here we drove back to M6 and upto Penrith for some tea - yes it started raining again and this was it until we left for home/hospital on Wednesday morning. Typical the day you leave it was 1 degrees, frost and the sun trying to burn through, i had to be at the hospital for midday so enjoyed the drive back home in the dense fog, bridge closed at Barny and hundreds of HGV's ! knew i should have gone over the tops (Hartisde) like we normally do. The bikes were packed but never took them out, it was just far too wet. There is always the next time!
