Last ride on the Eastway for the week, also a Merida S-Presso 300-d Hybrid bike has landed

Didnt manage to get out for a ride yesterday so made an effort today to get a few miles in and by god it was an effort. The winds are back and had a 30mph headwind for most of the route on the way out but it was sunny, well most of the time. After a good climb upto the top the temperature had dropped from nearly 8 degrees down to 2 degrees and was treated to a nice sleet shower in my face. It was a very quick pit stop at the top for a drink then had a lovely tailwind for most of the way back. I topped 42mph on the descent! and was sunny again by the time i got back down to normal level ! All in just under 18 miles with 1400ft of climbing but the tracks have dried up lovely even after the early morning rain. Below are some photos from the ride. Bring on the weekend, time to check the forecast.
Turned the corner and found this huge lump of stone in the middle of the track, god knows why. Somebody is going to ride in this in the dark coming from the other direction after the blind corner

Sleet on the lens !

After a few days of looking to see what was on offer for a replacement bike for her in doors at the budget end of the spectrum it was decided to purchase a Merida S-Presso 300-d Hybrid bike. The rrp was £649 and looks to be a 2012 model, we paid £499.99 inc next day delivery. The brief was ridgid forks, triple on the front, 9 speed, frame clearance for some 32c semi slick cx tyres and frame comptiable for full mudgurads. The S-Presso had all of these and come fitted with mudguards, Shimano hydraulic brakes & XT back mech. I had a few spares on my shelves to swap some of the cheaper parts and its ready to go. Below are some photos
